Hamilton The Revolution Review
Hello reader friends! I am so excited because today we are going to talk about one of my favorite subjects...Hamilton!! As some of you may know, Disney+ will be releasing Hamilton the musical on their platform THIS FRIDAY, July third! I am ecstatic. Hamilton is one of my favorite musicals and Lin-Manuel Miranda is a hero of mine. Today I am talking about the book Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote about the musical. So here we go!!
Hamilton The Revolution
by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter
So, first of all this book is HUGE. Carrying it around is like carrying one of those math textbooks that we had in high school. It's heavy and huge, but that is because it is full of MAGIC. It has the lyrics of all forty-six songs from the musical, as well as gorgeous photos of the original Broadway cast while performing. While the lyrics are the bulk of the book, the best part, in my opinion, is the notes. The book features notes and side stories written in the margins, as if Miranda himself scribbled them in before selling you the book. The notes give insight into things like Miranda's inspiration behind specific lyrics, costume and choreography decisions, and fun inside jokes between the members of the original cast. That's really all there is to the book, but I cannot recommend it enough! Especially for any Broadway or Hamilton super-fans out there (like me!). If you are a fan, definitely pick it up! If this is the first time you have ever heard of Hamilton, wait until the musical comes to Disney+ on Friday, fall in love with it like the rest of us, and then go pick it up! I promise that you will enjoy it and that it will make listening to or watching the musical even more enjoyable.
Thank you guys for reading! Keep tuned, I plan on releasing a "What Hamilton Character Are You?" quiz soon, so you can take it before seeing the show! Have a great rest of your day and remember to keep on reading!
