It is a prequel to her fantastic trilogy: The Hunger Games. I can't wait to tell you guys all about it! Let's get to it!

The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games' Prequel 'The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes' Is ...

Okay, so this won't be a super long review because I don't want to spoil the story for you. It is a fantastic book and I want all of you to get to experience it first-hand like I did. Just a quick overview; The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes precedes the Hunger Games trilogy by 64 years, occurring during the tenth Hunger Games. It is the story of Coriolanus Snow, a student of the Capitol Academy. Nearing his graduation, Snow and his classmates are given one final assignment: to be the first mentors to the tributes of the Hunger Games. The story follows Snow through the Hunger Games and after; shedding light on the route that leads Snow to be the fearsome, powerful Capitol president that we see in the original trilogy. It also shares the history of the creation of the Hunger Games and features some familiar characters and dialogue that may provide insight into Snow's emotional state during the original trilogy. I enjoyed this book immensely. It is a prequel, so it occurs before the trilogy, but having read the trilogy first, I enjoyed the kind of "easter eggs" that appear throughout The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. If you have not read the Hunger Games trilogy, you can decide for yourself if you would rather read them in timeline order, or release order. Either way, this book is wonderfully written and I would recommend it to fans of all genres. It is the type of story that appeals to many audiences, and I loved it!

The book is available on Amazon, I will link it below! I will also include a link to the original Hunger Games books in case you need to read or refresh yourself on those. Author Highlight

Hello reader friends! I am so excited because I found a fantastic author that I want to share with you guys today! She has several books and a few series available to read, but today I am going to highlight my favorite series of hers. This series is sure to be a favorite for those readers who enjoy fantasy. I'm so excited, let's get right to it!

Today's author highlight is on Stacey Rourke! I am going to highlight her "Unfortunate Soul Chronicles" series, which I stumbled upon on my Kindle Unlimited. There are three books in the series and I'll do a short summary for each and finish up with my final thoughts.

Book One: Rise of the Sea Witch

Amazon.com: Rise of the Sea Witch (Unfortunate Soul Chronicles ...This is the first book in the series and it's the one that caught my eye initially. I love everything mermaid/ocean themed and my ultimate favorite Disney princess is Ariel, so this cover hit on everything that interests me. Rise of the Sea Witch is a prequel to The Little Mermaid that tells the origin story of Ursela, the sea witch. The series blends several fairy tales and myths, but this book is mostly Little Mermaid.

Book Two: Entombed in Glass

Amazon.com: Entombed in Glass (Unfortunate Soul Chronicles Book 2 ...The second book in the series follows characters that we meet in book one as they begin their trek into other lands and fairy tales. This is when the fairy tales start to blend together, which I loved. The concept of a "fairy tale world" that mixes stories and characters has been done before, but this series is so original and well-written that it hooked me til the very end.

Book Three: Pursuing Madness

Pursuing Madness (Unfortunate Soul Chronicles, book 3) by Stacey ...The third book in the series wraps up the story of the characters that we met in books one and two. This book was so much fun to read because the characters spend most of it traipsing through different fairy tale worlds. The worlds are incredibly well-written and so immersive, I loved every minute of reading it. This book takes you through Wonderland, the Underworld, and several other beautiful lands. It features beloved, recognizable characters from fairy tales and myths. I especially loved this one because it involves a new take on the Hades and Persephone myth, which has always been a favorite story of mine.

For my final thoughts, all there really is to say is this: read it. If you are a lover of fairy tales and magic, or if you could use an immersive series that has a very fulfilling ending, this book is for you. If you enjoy this series, be sure to check out more of Stacey Rourke's books! Rourke also has a Facebook page and websiste that I will link down below! If you enjoy this book, let me know! Have an author you want highlighted, or a genre you want suggestions for? Let me know! Comment on this post or send me a message! That's all for today, happy reading!!
